Description:

Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans (MPI) is seeking a Retirement Benefits Coordinator. This position is responsible for various scheduling and administrative functions related to supporting the retirement process for Participants in our Pension & Health Plans (the Plans). This includes scheduling Visitor Center meetings and retirement counseling appointments and performing administration functions such as monitoring department email inboxes, workflow distribution, and document requests.

Responsibilities:

  • For assigned caseload of pension and IAP recipients:
    • Maintain Retirement Services department calendar and schedules counseling sessions for Participants.
    • Arrange, coordinate, and prioritize scheduling, including sending out benefit estimates for appointments.
    • Maintain incoming workflow for each benefit analyst’s caseload.
    • Screen by phone Participants for in-person Visitor Center appointments, including researching and preparing for the appointment.
    • Create and send Pension and IAP retirement and early withdrawal applications.
    • Analyze eligibility requirements for each applicant.
    • Review and validate returned applications for accuracy and completeness.
    • Provide customer assistance by phone, email, and in-person meetings.
    • Analyze, and respond to Participant requests regarding annual statements, benefit estimates, pension income verifications, Form 1099-R, miscellaneous form requests, address updates, beneficiary designations, and retirement applications.
    • Processes application cancellations.
    • Maintain accurate customer records on internal recordkeeping systems.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Maintain participant/department files and supplies.
    • Assist with various annual participant statements, required minimum distributions, and mail distribution.
    • Special projects and additional duties as assigned to support department objectives.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience providing administrative or customer service support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and experience working with pension administration and processing preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, paired with strong analytical skills.
  • Ensure accuracy and precision in work output, maintaining neat and meticulous attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word required.
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and reliability, including the ability to work extended hours/overtime as needed. 
  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to accept direction and developmental guidance from supervisors to support professional development and growth.
